I had the Sisters of Providence in grammar school. They were so strict. I got slapped twice by the principal. They certainly seem to have relaxed their rules and way of life. And they've ruined that chapel. Sister Ann Gabriel must be turning in her grave.

So very sad that these orders felt compelled to be ‘modern’ and dispense with an outward and visible sign of a consecrated life in Christ. This nun is well-meaning but is misguided in her thinking that the habit is/was totally unnecessary. She misses the point. Many of the new vocations these days are to more traditional orders, whether new or old, because these young women are drawn to a way of religious life that has not abandoned the richness, beauty and sound theological doctrine that the holy habit has always personified,

Since I was a little girl I had said I wanted to be nun Because my cousin was one and when I became a teenager So recently a few years ago I was like I don't know if I want that anymore but I can't Help but keep thinking if that's what I wanted when I was a little kid.Was that my calling Or even what is a calling?I mean i'm considering it But also I want a family. I want to be a mother. I keep praying and asking god if his purpose for me in the world is to be A nun or a mother I truly have no idea

This sister is wrong. If you are a sister you ought to be dressed as such, unless you are a lay woman. Lay people don’t wear habits.

I think it is sad sisters are more and more not wearing more conservative clothes. My loval place where the motherhouse is Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. There aren't any young ones at this location, but just look like regular Grandma's. Never would fuess they are sisters. Only a few ehere the brown skirt vest, skirt, veil, etc. A sister/nun without their veil, especially with the Eucharist is heartbreaking. I say this as a convert who has been veiling since i was 9 when it was 100% not supported by any church except Mennonite when i was a teen.

Do you still feel this way? I believe there should be a distinction. A man should not dress like a woman. Distinction in Holy Orders is a good thing. Or do you disagree with me?

To making the right decision for you. In making the decision to be or not to be a nun, does not diminish your love for God.

I'm a Marywood, Anaheim CA graduate. Those four years were among the BEST in my life! I'm now 85 and still grateful to the Sisters of Providence.

Thank you for this video. I've always wondered why instead of abandoning the habit altogether, sisters did not come up with a compromise solution. They could have kept the traditional habit for Sundays and Feast Days, had a modified habit for work days, and then street clothes for relaxing at home. Do you have any insight on why communities did not do that?

Only GOD can answer prayer. A saint is someone who is saved,sanctified by the blood of JESUS. It is not an appointed title Given by old men in red suits. The dead cannot hear you Because they are Physically dead and even if they could hear you They can do nothing for you.only GOD answers prayer!

I feel like God is calling me to be a nun… or a sister. And I feel guilty for not wanting it. I feel lost and forced as if all my blessings will be there. And I am ashamed of wanting marriage, motherhood, anything other than a religious life as if everything else is beneath me and of the flesh and world. To want something other than this vocational life is a ticket to suffering on this planet and Hell after. That I don’t love and trust Jesus enough to let Him rule me to be a sister and nun for Him. Makes want that lifestyle but conflicting to the point I shame everything else, my desires, all other things that I want to glorify Him in….

This is why there should never be women priests. Women are often change-maker revolutionaries-iconoclasts!

So sad. "Be a part of the modern world." Take a lesson from Orthodox nuns. They do not go the "modern route."

How are your vocations doing right now since you don't wear the habit

They have not a clue that many communities of women are tragically unraveling. The communities that are growing are wearing habits. Why would a young woman join a community of Sisters who don’t want to witness who they are by the way they dress.

God bless these dear sisters. They show us glimpses of God.

I give the Pope's my sympathies. They have no idea. I am concerned enough to give warning. I'm 73 myself and a theologian historian. Ancient Rome had vestal virgins who kept the flame of Rome alive forever. It was believed that if they lost their virginity or the flame went unattended and went out, Rome would be conquered and die. They would be killed if either happened. Along comes a new religion into the Republic with a Virgin. Persecutions stopped a lot because there was a forever Virgin connected to a God involved. Suddenly, a Mother Mary craze hit the early church that did not affect the other regions at that ancient time that Christianity was born. Over time it became Mother Mary-anity and now it's nothing like it was preached in Rome by Peter. Mary began to replace Jesus as the ultimate moral law pronouncer holiness giver. There is a way that seems right onto a man. The Church has elevated Mary as the true Oracle of Almighty God, I N S T E A D, of Jesus. Here are some examples: Church; - Mother Mary is God's mother therefore she speaks for Him. So, since she is a mother, she can correct her son. Mary says, (in your imagination) that God and his angels REJOICE IN HEAVEN WHEN A BABY IS BORN AND DELIVERED FROM AN ABORTION, AND GOD SAYS HE WANTS IT BORN AND IS HAPPY TO SEE IT ARRIVE ON EARTH. JESUS; - SAYS: REJOICE N O T When a soul enters the world but rather woe and mourn, for it's time of test is upon it and if it fails it will burn in hell forever. And mourn N O T when a soul dies, but rather REJOICE, because it's time of being tested has gone and it will no longer be in danger of eternal damnation. Now, which is right???? God says NO abortions because it makes Him unhappy, or, God says abort the soul before Satan has a chance to snatch it away from Me???? WARNING!!!!!!!! YOU'RE BEING TESTED HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't get this right at the Pearly Gates you'll burn in hell forever. Who is right??????? If God is an immutable ever unchanging GOD, then why would he change Jesus' words that life and B I R T H MAKES HIM HAPPY AND REJOICEFUL?????? Somebody has to right. All I am saying is what Jesus told his disciples to teach. When did He tell Mother Mary something different????? Now, who is right?? Mary or Jesus???? !???????? Your eternity depends on getting this question right? Secret hint; "Is Mary God in Heaven?”

How lovely - and down to earth. Thank you for sharing your journey to a faith that is truly practical, filled with prayer AND action. Means match ends. Even though they may not think of themselves in this way, for me, Sisters of Providence ROCK!
